Here are a few images I have found online to give a better idea as to what I am aiming for.

In regards to the statue of David, I would like to make him more appealing to younger children, so add a disney/pixar feel to the character:

Also, for where the statue will be situated, I have found some images for the square. I feel this is realistic to achieve as I do not need to recreate the whole square.

I will also look at books and other websites to gather further references before making/sketching the scene and character.
